I’ve been carving eggs:
In October 2015 I turned a Christmas ornament bell:
The bell ornament, like the liberty bell, stands for freedom. On the front of the bell is an outline of the Commonwealth of Virginia with its founding date and motto. The outline of Montgomery County is shown along with a red line representing the Great Road as along which our county was settled. Dots along the line represents the footprints of the early settlers. On the rear of the bell is an outline of Montgomery County with its founding date and motto. The line here also represents the Great Road. On the right side of the bell is a sketch of Burruss Hall at Virginia Tech representing the University and education. On the left side of the bell is a representation of the mountains of Montgomery County. The wood is yellowheart. The bell will hang on the Virginia State Christmas Tree for 2015.

I’ve also taken a stone carving workshop. This is the 8 inch high Canadian Soapstone sculpture I made, SOLD!:
Woodturning:
Wood Turning is my second passion. I’ve been turning for a number of years and produce a wide range of products from custom made pens, kaleidoscopes, bottle stoppers for wine or olive oil bottles to very thin walled vases. Since this site is still under development, you will find videos of my work on YouTube by searching dhpearce. A variety of my items are for sale at The Green Heron store in Radford, Virginia. All items may additionally be purchased through this website.
Bottle Stoppers: The first stopper has an airbrushed orange and maroon plus letters to represent Virginia Tech while the second stopper is lacquered wood. The third stopper is made from Chinese Chestnut while a bottle cork for the top and a silicone seal for the bottom is the final stopper. The first three stoppers have FDA approved food grade stainless steel bottle stoppers. All stoppers are for sale however, the one pictured might not be the exact one you receive.
Designed for Radford University.
What every Hokie (Virginia Tech Supporter) needs:
I also turn pens. Recently I’ve been working with deer antler and the “bolt action” pen design:
